What is Birthmark Removal?
Birthmarks are areas of skin that look different from birth or soon after. Some are pigmented, such as café-au-lait marks, naevus of Ota (blue-grey patches around the eye or cheek) and Becker's naevus. Others are vascular, made of blood vessels, such as port-wine stains or haemangiomas. The type matters, because each one behaves differently with treatment.
At Paradise Wellness, a doctor examines the mark first. Some pigmented birthmarks can be lightened with a pigment laser, such as a Q-switch laser, over several sessions spaced weeks apart. Naevus of Ota often responds well over time. Café-au-lait marks and Becker's naevus respond less predictably and can return. On Indian skin, settings are chosen carefully to lower the risk of dark or light patches. A test spot may be done first.
Please know the honest limits. Laser usually lightens a birthmark rather than removing every trace. Some marks do not respond, and some come back. Vascular birthmarks need a different kind of laser and are usually referred to a specialist centre. Raised or changing moles and congenital moles need a separate assessment. Results vary, and the doctor will tell you plainly if laser is not the right choice.
