What is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal uses very short, high-energy laser pulses that shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles. Your body’s immune system then clears these particles gradually, so the tattoo fades over a course of sessions.
Black and dark blue inks usually respond best. Other colours, older or professional tattoos with dense ink, and tattoos on the hands or feet can need more sessions. Complete removal is not always possible — sometimes the goal is enough fading for a cover-up.
Our doctors examine the tattoo, explain realistic expectations and plan the sessions. Spacing sessions 4–6 weeks apart gives the body time to clear the ink and the skin time to heal.
How it works
- 01
Assess
The doctor checks the tattoo’s size, colours and your skin type.
- 02
Protect
Numbing cream may be applied and you wear eye protection.
- 03
Laser pulses
Rapid pulses break up the ink — the tattoo turns white for a few minutes.
- 04
Dress & heal
A soothing ointment and dressing are applied; the body clears the ink over weeks.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the ink, colours, depth, age and location of the tattoo and on your skin. Small, dark amateur tattoos may need a few sessions; dense or colourful professional tattoos can need many. The doctor gives an estimate after seeing it.
Can every tattoo be removed completely?
Not always. Some colours, especially green, yellow and white, are hard to clear, and some ink may remain. Significant fading is usually achievable.
Does it hurt?
It feels like a rubber band snapping on the skin. Numbing cream and cooling make it more comfortable, and sessions are short.
Will it leave a scar?
The risk is low when sessions are spaced properly and aftercare is followed. Picking blisters or crusts increases the risk.
