Botox Aftercare
Botox (botulinum toxin) takes a few days to settle into the muscles it was placed in. The simple steps below help it stay where it was intended and reduce bruising.

Get medical help straight away if you have
- Difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing
- Double vision
- Weakness spreading beyond the treated area

Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before
- If your doctor agrees, pause aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for a few days
- Tell us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a nerve or muscle condition
- Avoid booking just before a big event — allow 2 weeks for the full result
After your treatment, step by step
First 4 hours
Do- Stay upright
- Gently use the treated muscles (frown, raise brows) if your doctor asks you to
Avoid- Lying flat or bending over for long
- Rubbing, pressing or massaging the area
First 24 hours
Do- Apply a cold pack wrapped in cloth for a few minutes if there is a bruise
Avoid- Gym and strenuous exercise
- Alcohol
- Sauna, steam, hot yoga
- Tight hats, headbands or face massage
Days 2–14
Do- Expect results to start in 3–5 days and settle by 2 weeks
- Come for your 2-week review if one is booked
Avoid- Facials or treatments that press on the area for 2 weeks

Normal, and settles by itself
- Small bumps at injection points for 15–30 minutes
- Tiny bruises
