What is CO₂ Laser?
The fractional CO₂ laser creates thousands of microscopic treatment columns in the skin while leaving the skin in between intact. As these heal, the skin produces new collagen and resurfaces, softening acne scars, enlarged pores and rough texture.
It is one of the most effective treatments for scarring, but it is also one of the strongest — expect several days of redness and flaking after each session. Numbing cream is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable.
The settings are adjusted for your skin type and scar pattern. Darker skin tones need extra care to avoid pigment changes, so our doctors may recommend preparing the skin first or combining gentler treatments such as RF microneedling.
How it works
- 01
Assess & numb
The doctor maps the scars and applies numbing cream for 45–60 minutes.
- 02
Laser passes
The fractional CO₂ laser is passed over the area in a grid pattern.
- 03
Soothe
The skin is cooled and a healing cream is applied.
- 04
Heal
Redness and fine flaking settle over about a week as new skin forms.

CO₂ Laser FAQs
Is CO₂ laser safe for Indian skin?
Yes, with the right settings and aftercare. Darker skin tones carry a higher risk of temporary darkening, so the doctor may prepare your skin first and choose gentler settings.
How much downtime is there?
Plan for 4–6 days of redness and flaking. Most people return to work after 3–5 days.
CO₂ laser or RF microneedling for acne scars?
CO₂ laser resurfaces more strongly with more downtime; RF microneedling works deeper with less surface downtime and suits darker skin well. Many plans combine both — our doctors will advise.
When will I see results?
Skin looks smoother once it heals, but collagen keeps building for 3–6 months, so the full result of each session appears gradually.
