What is Cyst & Milia Removal?
Small bumps under or on the skin are common and are often harmless. Epidermoid and sebaceous cysts are closed sacs under the skin, often on the face, neck, back or scalp. Milia are tiny, hard white bumps, usually around the eyes and cheeks. Molluscum contagiosum causes small, pearly, dome-shaped bumps and is caused by a virus.
At Paradise Wellness, a qualified doctor examines the bump first, because the right method depends on what it is. Milia are usually released through a tiny opening. Molluscum may be treated with gentle removal, cautery or freezing. A cyst is removed as a minor procedure under local anaesthesia, aiming to take out the sac so it is less likely to return. If a cyst is red, swollen and painful, it is usually treated with medicines first and removed once the inflammation settles.
Some honest limits. Any cut leaves a small scar, and the doctor will discuss this beforehand. Cysts can occasionally return. Molluscum can spread to new areas until the body clears it. If a lump looks unusual, the doctor may advise testing or a referral rather than removal here. Results vary from person to person.
How it works
- 01
Assessment
The doctor examines the bump and asks about its history. Inflamed cysts are usually calmed with medicines before any removal.
- 02
Local anaesthesia
The area is cleaned and numbed with a local anaesthetic, so you stay awake but comfortable.
- 03
Removal
Milia are released through a tiny opening. Molluscum is removed or treated. Cysts are removed through a small cut, aiming to take out the whole sac.
- 04
Closing and dressing
Small cuts may be closed with a few stitches and dressed. You receive written aftercare and a review date.

Cyst & Milia Removal FAQs
Is cyst removal a surgery?
It is a minor procedure done by a qualified doctor under local anaesthesia after assessment. You stay awake, and most people go home soon after. Some cysts need a few stitches.
Can a cyst come back?
Removing the whole sac lowers the chance of return, but cysts can occasionally come back. An inflamed cyst is harder to remove fully, which is why it is usually calmed first.
Can my painful, swollen cyst be removed today?
Usually not. An inflamed or infected cyst is first treated with medicines, and sometimes drained. Removal is planned once the area has settled, for a cleaner result.
Can I remove milia myself?
Please do not. Squeezing milia can damage the skin and cause marks or infection. A doctor can release them safely with sterile tools.
Is molluscum contagious?
Yes. It spreads by skin contact and shared towels. Avoid scratching or shaving over the bumps. Treatment helps, but new bumps can appear until the body clears the virus.
How much does cyst or milia removal cost?
It depends on the type, size and number of bumps and the method needed. The doctor confirms the cost at your free consultation.
