What is Hair Fillers?
Hair fillers are injectable scalp boosters. Despite the name, they are not the same as facial dermal fillers and do not add volume to the scalp. They contain ingredients such as peptides and hyaluronic acid, sometimes with vitamins or amino acids, which are injected into the scalp with fine needles. The aim is to hydrate the scalp and support weakening hair follicles.
They are used for early to moderate thinning, including pattern hair loss and diffuse thinning, where follicles are still present. A course of several sessions, a few weeks apart, is usually advised, followed by maintenance. They are similar in approach to hair mesotherapy, and your doctor may combine them with PRP, GFC or medical treatment.
Evidence for hair fillers is still limited compared with established treatments, and results vary from person to person. They do not regrow hair on areas that have been bald for a long time, and they are not a substitute for a hair transplant in advanced hair loss. Before starting, your doctor will check for causes such as thyroid problems, low iron, hormonal changes or recent illness, which need their own treatment.

Are hair fillers the same as dermal fillers?
No. Facial dermal fillers add volume. Hair fillers are scalp boosters that aim to hydrate the scalp and support follicles. They do not add volume to the scalp.
How are they different from PRP?
PRP uses a concentrate from your own blood. Hair fillers use prepared ingredients such as peptides and hyaluronic acid. Your doctor may suggest one or combine them.
When will I see results?
Changes are gradual. Some people notice less shedding and better hair quality from about three to six months. Results vary.
Can they regrow a bald patch?
No. They are most suitable where follicles are still present. Long-standing bald areas may need a hair transplant or scalp micropigmentation.
Are they painful?
You may feel small pricks. A numbing cream can help. Most people find the session manageable.
