What is Jaw Slimming Botox (Masseter)?
The masseter is the strong chewing muscle at the angle of your jaw. In some people it is naturally large, or it grows bulkier from clenching or grinding. This can make the lower face look wide or square. Jaw slimming Botox places small doses of botulinum toxin into this muscle so it relaxes and, over the following weeks, becomes slimmer.
The change is gradual. Most people notice the jaw feels less tight within a couple of weeks, and the face looks softer over six to eight weeks. Results vary from person to person and the effect wears off, so top-up sessions are needed to keep it. Some people who clench at night also find their jaw feels more comfortable.
It is important to be honest about limits. Botox only works on muscle. If the width comes from bone, fat or loose skin, it will not help much.
