What is Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing)?
Cryolipolysis, often called fat freezing, reduces stubborn pockets of fat by cooling them in a controlled way. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the skin and muscle around them. After cooling, the treated fat cells break down over the following weeks and the body clears them naturally.
An applicator is placed on the area, usually the tummy, flanks (love handles), back, inner thighs, upper arms or under the chin. It cools the fat for a set time while you rest. The area feels cold and then numb, and there is no downtime, so most people go straight back to work. Changes start to show from about 4–6 weeks and continue for 2–3 months.
Cryolipolysis is not a weight-loss treatment. It suits people close to their healthy weight who have a pinchable bulge that has not shifted with diet and exercise. Many areas need 2–3 sessions for the result you want, and the doctor may combine it with skin tightening or muscle toning. Results vary, and they last best with stable weight.
