Mesobotox, also called micro-Botox, uses tiny diluted doses of botulinum toxin placed just under the skin surface rather than deep in the muscle. Instead of freezing expression, it aims at the small oil glands and fine muscle fibres in the skin, which can make an oily T-zone look less shiny, pores less obvious and texture smoother for a few months. If oil and texture are your main concerns, mesobotox in Delhi may be worth discussing with a doctor.

What is mesobotox?

Mesobotox combines two ideas. "Meso" comes from mesotherapy, where many tiny, shallow injections are placed into the skin. "Botox" refers to botulinum toxin, the same medicine used to soften frown lines and forehead lines.

The difference is in how much is used and where it goes. With mesobotox, the toxin is diluted and spread across an area with many very small injections into the skin layer. Very little reaches the deeper muscles that create expressions. The skin itself is the target.

Other names you may hear include micro-Botox, intradermal Botox and "skin Botox". They describe the same approach.

How does mesobotox help pores and oily skin?

The skin contains oil (sebaceous) glands, sweat glands and very fine muscle fibres attached to it. Botulinum toxin reduces nerve signals to these small structures. When it is placed in the skin layer, it is thought to:

  • Reduce oil production for a while, so skin looks more matte and less shiny.
  • Make pores look smaller, partly because less oil stretches them and the skin surface looks smoother.
  • Soften fine, crinkly lines, such as those on the cheeks or lower face, without stopping expression.
  • Smooth the neck and jawline in some people.

In Delhi's humid months, many people struggle with shine by midday. Some find their skin feels more matte for a while after mesobotox. The change is subtle and varies from person to person, so it helps to have realistic expectations. Mesobotox vs regular Botox: what is the difference?

Both use the same type of medicine, but they are used for different goals.

Mesobotox (micro-Botox)Regular Botox

Dose per pointVery small, dilutedLarger, concentrated

If your main concern is deep frown lines or crow's feet, standard Botox treatment is usually more suitable. Some people have both, planned by the doctor.

What mesobotox cannot do

Being clear about limits helps you choose the right treatment. Mesobotox is not designed to treat:

  • Deep wrinkles or folds. Standard Botox or fillers may be considered instead.
  • Sagging skin. Skin boosters or tightening treatments are more relevant.
  • Acne scars. Options such as MNRF, CO2 laser or peels are used for scarring.
  • Pigmentation and uneven tone. Peels and laser toning are more suitable.
  • Active acne. Breakouts need medical treatment first.

If dryness or dull, crepey skin is the bigger issue, a skin booster such as Profhilo may fit better. Mesobotox also does not replace a good daily routine with a gentle cleanser and broad-spectrum sunscreen.

What happens during a mesobotox session?

  1. Consultation. The doctor checks your skin type, oil pattern, health history and goals, and confirms mesobotox is suitable. Photos may be taken.
  2. Cleanse and numb. The skin is cleaned and a numbing cream may be applied.
  3. Micro-injections. Many tiny injections are placed evenly across the chosen area, such as the T-zone, cheeks, lower face or neck.
  4. Aftercare advice. You leave with simple instructions. A review can be arranged.

The session takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Small raised bumps appear and usually settle within a few hours.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Most people notice a change in oil and texture within one to two weeks. The effect wears off gradually over a few months, as the nerve signals to the glands return. Many people repeat treatment when they notice oil or texture returning.

How long it lasts depends on the area treated, your skin type and how your body processes the toxin. Results vary, and the first session helps your doctor judge the right plan for you. Our mesobotox treatment page explains the plan and what to expect at each visit.

Side effects, aftercare and who should avoid it

It is normal to have small raised bumps for a few hours, mild redness or pinpoint bruises for a day or two, and a slight feeling of tightness as the effect sets in.

After treatment:

  • Do not rub or massage the area for 24 hours.
  • Avoid make-up for the rest of the day.
  • Skip steam, saunas and heavy exercise for 24 hours.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and daily sunscreen.

Our Botox aftercare guide has more detail. Contact the clinic if you notice drooping of an eyelid or the corner of the mouth, or spreading redness, heat, pus or fever. Seek urgent care for any difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.

Mesobotox is usually avoided or delayed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, have an active acne flare, infection or cold sores in the area, take blood thinners, or have had an allergy or poor reaction to botulinum toxin.

Frequently asked questions

Will mesobotox make my face look frozen?

It should not. The doses are very small and placed in the skin layer rather than deep into the muscles that control expression. You should be able to smile, frown and raise your eyebrows normally. If you want expression lines softened as well, your doctor will discuss standard Botox separately.

Is mesobotox good for oily skin in summer?

Some people with oily skin find their T-zone feels more matte for a while after mesobotox, which can help in Delhi's hot, humid months. The effect is subtle and varies. It is most helpful alongside a simple routine: a gentle cleanser, a light moisturiser and broad-spectrum sunscreen, rather than harsh scrubs that can make oiliness worse.

Can mesobotox treat acne or acne scars?

No. It is not an acne or scar treatment. Active acne needs medical care first, and injecting into inflamed skin is avoided. For scars, the doctor may suggest MNRF, CO2 laser or peels. Some people consider mesobotox later for oil control once acne is settled, but only after a doctor's assessment.

Can I combine mesobotox with other treatments?

Often, yes. The doctor may pair it with a HydraFacial, skin boosters or peels, with suitable gaps between treatments so the skin can recover. Avoid facials, steam and exfoliating acids for the first days after mesobotox. Your doctor will plan the order so each treatment works as intended.

How often should mesobotox be repeated?

Many people repeat it every few months, when they notice oil, shine or texture returning. There is no need to follow a fixed schedule. Your doctor will review how long your result lasted and suggest a sensible interval. Leaving enough time between sessions is part of safe practice with botulinum toxin.
