What is Cosmelan Peel?
The Cosmelan peel is a professional depigmentation programme rather than a single peel. A mask is applied to the face in clinic, you remove it at home after the time your doctor advises, and then you follow a guided homecare routine that keeps pigment under control between visits. It is the most intensive option in our pigmentation peel range, and one box is used per session.
The mask works by slowing the skin’s pigment production while encouraging pigmented cells to shed. Over the following days the skin turns red and peels, and fresher, more even skin appears underneath. Because the homecare phase does much of the ongoing work, sessions are spaced months apart rather than weeks.
People usually choose Cosmelan when melasma or hormonal pigmentation has not responded to lighter peels or creams. It asks for commitment: a quieter week for peeling, strict sun protection and a daily routine. Melasma can return with sun, heat and hormonal changes, so the aim is long-term control rather than a one-off fix, and results vary from person to person. Your doctor confirms the type of pigmentation first and may suggest a gentler face peel or laser toning if that suits you better.

How is Cosmelan different from a regular face peel?
A face peel is applied and removed in clinic with light flaking afterwards. Cosmelan is a stronger depigmentation programme: the mask stays on for hours, is removed at home and is followed by a homecare routine for melasma.
Why are Cosmelan sessions months apart?
The homecare routine continues the work between visits, so repeat sessions are usually planned 4–6 months apart. Most people need 2–4 over time.
Can I go to work during the peeling phase?
Many people prefer to work from home for the first few days, when redness and peeling are most visible. Plan a quieter week if you can.
Will melasma come back after Cosmelan?
