What is Yellow Peel?
The yellow peel is a deeper, retinol-based peel that takes its name from its colour. Unlike our lighter face peel, it stays on the skin for a few hours after you leave the clinic and is rinsed off at home. It sits between a routine clinical peel and the Cosmelan programme in intensity, and it can be used on the face as well as body areas.
The retinol encourages faster cell turnover, so pigmented, tired surface skin sheds over the following days and is replaced by fresher skin. Most people see noticeable peeling for 5–7 days. A course of 4–6 sessions, spaced about four weeks apart, gives the skin time to renew between treatments.
Clients often choose a yellow peel for stubborn pigmentation and uneven tone that lighter peels have not improved, or for pigmented areas on the body such as the back, elbows or knees. It is not a quick pre-event treatment because of the peeling phase, and it is avoided in pregnancy. Results vary with the cause of the pigmentation and how well the skin is protected from the sun. The doctor assesses your skin first and may recommend a different peel or laser toning.

Cosmelan is a more intensive depigmentation programme mainly for melasma, with a homecare phase. The yellow peel is a retinol peel repeated monthly, and it can also treat body areas.
Can the yellow peel be used on the body?
Yes. It can be applied to areas such as the back, elbows and knees as well as the face, after the doctor checks the skin.
Why does it stay on for a few hours?
The retinol needs time to work on the skin, so it is left on after your visit and rinsed off at home at the time your doctor sets.
Is it suitable for Indian skin?
It can be, when the doctor chooses the timing and area and you follow strict sun protection afterwards, because Indian skin can react to irritation with darkening.
