What is Lip Fillers?
Lip fillers use a soft hyaluronic acid gel to add volume, improve shape or redefine the lip border. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the skin, and lip products are made softer than those used for cheeks or the jawline so the lips still move and feel natural.
Most first treatments use about half a syringe to one syringe. The doctor looks at your lip proportions, the balance between the upper and lower lip and your profile before deciding where to place it. We work from the ranges already used in our clinics, including Restylane, Teoxane RHA and EPTQ, and choose the product at your consultation.
Our aim is lips that look like a better version of your own, not a trend shape. It is easier to add a little more at a review than to take filler away, so the doctor may suggest starting small. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if ever needed. Results vary with your anatomy and how quickly your body breaks down filler.

How to prepare
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before
- If your doctor agrees, pause aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E for a few days to reduce bruising
- Plan weddings, photos and events at least 2 weeks after
- Tell the doctor about pregnancy, medicines, past filler or cold sores
What to expect
- Photos and a shape plan

Aftercare
- Cold compress for the first day
- No lipstick or lip products for 12 hours
- No kissing, straws, gym, sauna or alcohol for 24–48 hours

Will my lips look natural?
That is the aim. The doctor works with your own lip shape and may suggest starting with a small amount and adding more at the review if you want.
How long does lip swelling last?
Swelling is usually most noticeable for the first 1–2 days and settles over about a week. The final shape is clear at around 2 weeks.
How long do lip fillers last?
Usually 6–12 months. Lips move a lot, so filler tends to last less here than in the cheeks or chin.
Does getting lip filler hurt?
Numbing cream and the anaesthetic in most fillers keep it comfortable. Most people feel pinches and pressure rather than sharp pain.
Can lip filler be removed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if it is ever needed.
