Thread Lift Aftercare
A thread lift uses dissolvable threads to lift and support the skin. The threads settle into place over the first 2 weeks, so it helps to protect your face from pressure and big movements.

Before your appointment
- Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil for 1 week if your doctor agrees
- Avoid alcohol for 2 days before
- Tell us about any dental work planned in the next 2 weeks
After your treatment, step by step
First 72 hours
Do- Sleep on your back with your head raised
- Use a cool compress for swelling
- Eat soft foods
Avoid- Massaging or rubbing your face
- Wide mouth opening and big facial expressions
- Makeup on entry points for 24 hours
Days 4–14
Do- Keep facial movements gentle
- Take paracetamol for discomfort if needed
Avoid- Facials, massages and face rollers
- Dental treatment
- Gym, sauna and steam
Weeks 3–6
Do- Return for your review visit
Avoid- HIFU, RF or strong facial treatments until your doctor allows
What to pause, and for how long

Normal, and settles by itself
- Swelling and bruising for 3–7 days
- Tightness or a pulling feeling
- Small dimples or puckering that settle in 1–2 weeks
- Tenderness when chewing or yawning
Call your clinic if you notice
- Blisters, crusting or oozing that keeps spreading
- Pain, swelling or redness that gets worse after 48 hours
- Pus, warmth or fever
- New dark or light patches on the treated skin
- A thread end you can feel poking through the skin
Aftercare questions
When can I sleep on my side after a thread lift?
Wait about 1 week. Sleeping on your back helps the threads settle.
Is it normal to see small dimples?
Mild puckering is common and usually settles in 1–2 weeks. Tell us if it does not.
How long does a thread lift last?
The lift is usually visible for about 12–18 months, while the threads also help build collagen.
