The Green Sea Peel is one of the few peels where you can see and feel the skin renewing. That is exactly why knowing what to expect matters. Most worries after a Green Sea Peel come from not knowing that a certain stage is completely normal.

Here is the recovery timeline our doctors walk every client through.

Before the peel: the week that shapes your result

Good recovery starts before treatment. In the week before your session:

  • Stop retinol, acids (AHA/BHA) and scrubs, as your doctor advises [CHECK WITH DOCTOR: exact days]
  • Avoid rich creams and hydrating sheet masks, so the spicules can settle properly
  • If you get dark marks easily, your doctor may give you a brightening cream to start two weeks earlier
  • Skip waxing, threading and tanning on the area

Day 0: treatment day

During the 45–60 minute session, the green spicule mask is massaged into your skin. You will feel a prickling, "tiny pins" sensation. Afterwards your skin may look pink and feel warm, like a mild sunburn.

A surprise for many clients: the redness and prickle often feel stronger a few hours after you leave. The manufacturer's own training notes describe this as expected, and the tingling can continue for around 72 hours.

Do: leave your skin alone. Don't: wash your face for 24 hours or apply anything except what we give you.

Day 1–2: tight, warm, a little pink

Your skin feels tight and slightly sensitive. Touching your face or pulling on a T-shirt may feel prickly; that is the spicules still at work in the top layer.

Avoid for 48 hours: gym, yoga, sauna, steam, hot showers and anything that makes you sweat or heats the skin. Most people go back to work on day 1.

Day 2–5: the flaking phase

The surface layer starts to shed, often around the mouth, chin and nose first. It may be fine flaking or light peeling.

  • Do not pick, peel or scrub. Let it fall off naturally
  • Use only a gentle cleanser and a light moisturiser
  • Apply SPF 50 every morning and reapply when outdoors
  • No makeup with heavy foundation until flaking settles

Day 5–10: the fresh-skin reveal

This is the part clients love. Once shedding finishes, skin looks smoother, brighter and more even, and pores often look tighter. Most people see the reveal somewhere between day 5 and day 10.

Week 2 onward: building results

Collagen renewal continues quietly for weeks. Most clients book a course of 2–3 sessions, as recommended by the manufacturer's protocol and adjusted by your doctor, for deeper improvement in marks and texture.

Call us if you notice blistering, oozing, severe pain, swelling that gets worse after day 2, or dark patches appearing. These are not normal and need a doctor's review.

Plan it around your calendar

Book your Green Sea Peel at least 7–10 days before a wedding, shoot or big event. For an instant glow with no downtime closer to the date, a facial such as our Glass Skin Facial is a better fit.
